A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed

& `8 ?6 x: ^* N# tnursing home today.
; r: I3 T, Y' W3 Q7 c2 y! Q2 ~/ B4 `# Q- P4 A
His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. . u& q* X' W& q5 t6 z' Z+ }
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, ( k0 z. x* \. X1 N7 _
he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

% @7 h( s+ C4 k. q IAs he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual
/ Y* _: E1 C; e/ N) ]* i0 kdescription of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been

: ^& ^% H6 r) Z"I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having $ F1 O0 r) Q, t5 _4 ?) [6 z9 B9 y& _
just been presented with a new puppy.

"Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait." 7 Y2 C, X/ O7 W; z6 ^

"That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied. ( c$ D. O4 h9 A2 z+ K/ z

"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my
8 @, C2 m- o' H1 h r+ Nroom or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged ... it's how 1 x6 B% C, c9 H7 q' u* R
I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it." 3 H$ W: E* p3 z) ~6 q/ G$ ~

It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up.

2 \) `8 B, N9 ^6 t( M* w4 xI have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I ) ^( @/ p+ L' ?7 ~* f5 a/ L! k
have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed

~; a# P4 Q6 v' t: e4 p& S$ DEach day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open I'll focus on the new

/ w" U* |% A. E) W _Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in.

: H" Z) C* g& U7 D5 ?So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank % |- r/ b; A3 S
account of memories! Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank.
