EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.- f! y$ C% J; T* s S
- [* H2 F( c# ^The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.. p$ S {, B; X: K, \
7 @" [* Y7 ?- B3 C: S! bPolice evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."& e7 C# { ], j( f1 H0 ?
