Newcomers are being offered some help when shopping for a home in Edmonton’s tight housing market. 3 a) M# q# i$ K5 z/ `
Immigrant women and their families can now access a “household toolkit” crafted by a local service group for new immigrant families, through real estate agents. ! x- _$ N' O h5 R, Y$ s% m

In the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items. 3 \+ e6 K' K! W! p _
; X0 v2 ]4 f s% o$ S% y“The tools are a symbol of hope for people trying to build new lives in Edmonton,” said Madeline Sarafinchan, president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board.

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women.
