0 a, _; k/ _" Y2 ~) `5 `; O+ h
! |- r! a8 J, v* _) y" r! Z2 H        1. I couldn't care less.
9 X3 e) x4 C1 u$ i" t- k! [: [- w8 U, z
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: , V6 H8 m) V" i
0 [3 |) |  Q+ z
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) 0 b1 @9 E& O3 j9 ~/ m) P: A

2 ]3 h) U2 ^- b  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
+ R2 X, R! n: w6 I, c3 [8 s) H& A
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
1 h1 ~% c& D/ N  d0 Y
7 u- Z, }% e  |2 V' m  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
: X% {9 w# d, m2 m
& p/ y6 n5 H( g* h6 m3 a& S
$ s3 m3 q9 [: m- T$ k  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
* f" T: l5 x) T$ B& O
# X( Q" u! t8 u  \" p9 d# ?; b* C  而实际上他是根本在乎升级和加薪的,那么人家也许就会回答说: Yes, you do(care).
. s/ \4 `, K3 k! q/ _' H( L; G, |# [9 _/ l: m7 d3 N/ }) |( a7 C
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理: * x4 U* G( a# V. @6 L/ d

" G' J' V) b4 |/ r8 _  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
+ b. F) `; z5 d# B+ }) F) \% _% d6 a+ A, @
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
. b$ u8 A3 I, j8 W% b  j7 f) m
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
6 r6 n. [6 r( X9 `
5 I3 @4 v) p  n  a
6 w: D$ f' K" s3 Y: v+ R6 y- Q  I couldn't be more wrong. + \( S6 Y5 p7 ?4 V, Y- c& Y
8 H- N; Z6 K8 M: |+ v

I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少)
9 h0 P+ V3 r! ^& f9 e
' Z, k2 u, `5 B, E  w5 z1 M  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) ( b4 L1 _4 A* i* X' c/ z7 ~
" K. V. U9 O* I# p
  2. No bones about it.
: Y) e, p" h7 n4 s) G$ s1 _- _
7 j% Y  a+ J6 K) O  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
9 f: W- W- T+ l+ I. }' c  Q3 M0 o; c1 @7 _4 Q2 g3 g5 |8 n3 t
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
. `+ |1 ?) _' L, J/ |/ z, x
: t* J  }: I. n5 O( m7 G  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) # L* I8 j% M0 n; H" W2 w

1 h( t: J/ x* F( i- d, D  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) 6 `$ o  ^2 F1 L6 I6 `

" s$ O- D  k$ ]# b1 M6 b  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) ) E. n" d% L" o
" j7 [( Q( u( u0 |
  3. take it on me!
! z" _2 N1 C! c2 @" f2 _! o8 d
9 P) Q9 V% U$ }, F+ Z  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
" e' d, h6 |  A7 b6 [( b' h1 a+ ^
' @  o  a- t( R& D4 G* v  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) ! |6 v, m3 C; D" _$ c" v4 s: z
" {- s; n. U/ {0 Q: ?
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." , T% y% V' `+ d8 b* Q, [
' p- N; v; L7 t' W: c  _, O
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
$ p& ]4 L' S! k1 s* S8 P+ J. D! |. s- g1 f& @! N3 q
) |4 o! E7 q/ n3 g9 [

- I7 ~% c( a7 P) ^  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) 7 V' g# S8 X6 _2 f. ?4 P
: b/ _1 ?/ O% Y7 k$ r
  4. I am from Missouri. : f7 Z5 q3 U; n
6 p/ {0 Y4 U% \# y+ f6 t4 T( Z6 s
  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
) p% h" ^6 Z! a+ o' H0 a7 |! f- q! c' n6 H
8 @8 D( X9 E" }) `; N2 ?* {$ q- O  M, _
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
$ t7 E5 a& e! ~( V& q+ C8 G
( C" c4 [: p7 X: \5 E  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) (别愚弄我,我是来自密苏里州。)
8 J6 U9 N6 Y9 B5 J& ?0 s8 t& Y7 r3 I3 A. W6 }
  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
# |! R: {; Y8 \, ^" U; Z3 v
+ U. H. \& X$ T) N# U" W+ S  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith先生是位倔强的人,他一定是来自密苏里州。)
