Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend. R4 N( }! e7 s' q" ?, Y, l

A male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.) }, U" C: ~+ q$ w. d/ w8 e+ G

A search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.% A2 v1 R" M9 l% F0 E7 `

A man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge. ^, L+ F# v) A' C7 U, H
