NAIT的Electrical Engineering Technology这个专业出来一般都干嘛

朋友很想去读这个，想了解下有没有这个专业出来的前辈介绍下，就业情况怎样，一般都是干些什么样的工作。谢谢大家

虽然没有读过，但是很确定这个专业毕业的不是electrician，职业定位应该是，designer,technician和technologist.

我也觉得electrician得专门的实习专业才会去做。
$ Z9 m7 r# i! a/ B7 j那这个专业出来通过了政府的认证，然后做了electrical tech/technologist，一般都是在什么样的地方工作？在city里面朝九晚五的工作机会多吗？不太希望是那种要到郊区户外或经常黑白颠倒的工作

7 H$ }7 N" J+ \办公室工作的机会也非常大。designer, customer order engineer(manufacture), technologist等等，你去查一下Monster或workopolis之类的就知道了。

* `/ q  g2 Y: o0 K( U! P+ U# W8 [1 o0 @1) Field Service Technologist/Technician
    Perform tests on transformers, switchgears, and onther electrical equipment. Around 95%      
: j8 \! P# P: \" I2 e    working on site, field or substations. Starting wage about $23/hr.
) r' f8 S/ H' N7 W! e+ k$ N
2 U1 G" L/ r; T- H8 S2) PLC programmer
    Perform PLC system maintenance and programming. Around 50% working on site or field. Starting
    wage about $24/hr.

& p% c- m- T" G3) VFD technician
: y+ H$ j' Q2 U9 @1 S    Perform VFD test and maintenance. 70% working on site or field. Starting wage about $25/hr.

4) Electrical Technician/Repairer
8 l+ N- A8 Q* N7 }7 T9 r) u1 A    Perform electrical equipment maintenance and repair. 50% working on site or field, 50% working  
" J$ J* {" m' i7 t% x    in shop. Starting wage about $24/hr.

5) Electrical Designer
    Perform electrical system design such as cabinet design or power system design. 95% working in  
( v, e! A; |+ v  }    office and 5% on site. Starting salary about $44,000, its starting salary is lower than that of field  
* `2 @+ f' O9 O1 f8 |/ v% u3 d    service technologist or others, but after 3 ~ 4 years later the salary could be higher than  
  [' f9 G% V1 V    $70,000/yr (equal to $35/hr).

6) Electrician
; y- K2 Z6 ?/ m. f# g    Perform electrical equipment installation, maintenance, and repair. You have to spent another 4 years as an apprentice even you have an ELT diploma. You have to find an employer to hire you as an apprentice. Normally for a Canadian whose friends, or brothers/sisters, or father/uncle/mother is an electrician he/she will spent another 4 years working with his/her father (uncle/brother or ...) and eventually he/she will acquire an electrician trade certiificate. This is an easy way for them to be an electrician, but that's harder for an immigrant. The starting wage is good, I think at least $25/hr. An electrician will spent most time in shop, on site or in the field. That's all as my understanding.
