Job Title: Program Manager Abbottsfield Youth Project

Job Purpose:
/ f4 u0 L2 C1 r) r( D) V- MTo support the Executive Director with fundraising, special events and will be instrumental in the development of our Social Enterprise. This position will also be working directly with children 6-12 years old to teach life skills such as self esteem, communication skills, peer relations using recreation and physical activities to promote growth. Small group facilitation, one-to-ones, family support, advocacy and referrals are used to achieve program outcomes.

This is a full time, one year term position working 37.5 hours per week with 10-15 hours per week dedicated to the children’s programming. (Continuation of this position will depend on available funding)

• Working together with the Executive Director to solidify new funding opportunities and write funding reports as needed;# M* }' g& N% X1 {7 d
• Supporting in the overall development of programs and activities that benefit our community and our children;
! U2 Y% Q( K& w% {8 e$ g/ x• Maintaining and evaluating program outcomes;
. I1 {/ M/ ]. M5 A) u7 {• Spearheading the further develop our social enterprise; , \- o) [& |5 D, F( n! M/ }
• Risk Management and succession planning;$ L& O2 e. `! R, I, v

Program Duties and Responsibilities include:
, L& j* U- l& w0 ]• Maintaining comprehensive and objective contact notes related to child or conversations with others about child;2 w8 I- T* _5 |( ]7 P: k5 }6 H# A
• Maintaining confidentiality related to all participant information;& W5 d& G. Q) i
• Liaising and/or advocate with school personnel, parent/guardian, and child, as required;
2 o; j/ c& Y" `" q" z• Creatively planning, organizing, and evaluating small group and one-to-one activities
' g$ p6 H* I/ w. X2 s/ A7 ]& x* M: O• Participating in establishing achievable program outcomes and employ group strategies and activities to achieve the same;7 A5 |4 U' R, F' G6 w
• Meeting with participants on a one-to-one basis to help them achieve success with their goals;' _ r- ~( S- c( T. [
• Building and maintaining positive relationships with children in groups;( @ i; D7 n, ]1 x
• Participating in the planning and implementation of family activities for participants & families;. S1 ?& O' P; L

Qualifications:: Z4 K. }/ r. }5 d) q6 X
• Degree in communications, human services or related field;
) `4 B: H8 N( l• Extensive knowledge of the not for profit or voluntary sector;% }) T3 x) R6 u0 H3 J( R! h
• Knowledge of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations; 6 |. ]% E8 p; O* f3 T1 i+ p
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in writing funding proposals and reports a must;
O* _$ e0 P9 X+ O% u. n+ d• The abilities to multi-task, creatively problem solve, communicate effectively, foster teamwork, and build relationships are critical.
" I& J: o7 i" j$ @! C' ?0 X• Extensive experience in group facilitation and working with children;
m* \3 W0 G) r• Current certificates in Aboriginal Cultural Awareness, Suicide Intervention, Standard First Aid and CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention are preferred;
0 A2 Z9 K" {# n• Clear CYIM, Security Clearance, and Driver’s Abstract;
2 T, I; U$ `( E, H( X; E) G8 M# g• Current valid drivers license;2 n5 H) v* U, W+ C& c( d
• Knowledge of and comfort with the implementation of behavioural intervention strategies;

4 ?) d; H6 D5 d5 Z& v, H o& U• Clear understanding of professional boundaries;% Z- ~& [6 i, _ j& i
