What is the criteria for reporting a traffic accident? Can I phone it in?
0 u8 M3 q( ~7 a& [) e* j; i8 REffective August 1, 2002, Saskatchewan motorists will only have to report motor vehicle collisions to police if the collision involves:3 m5 g0 ?2 T+ H: t8 Y
1) Any bodily injury or death;
) @* r5 j; ~+ `9 d2) A Hit-and-Run;2 [- L [* a" B: f! a# g. n
3) A driver impaired by alcohol or drugs;) g3 p( x. O+ G6 I- L3 `
4) A motor vehicle towed from the scene;8 Q; |. |( f' t1 m: U$ h& M A3 Y
5) An out-of-province vehicle.! i( H- h9 {+ X" u, M% K
; N) s$ G. Q* p6 a- v3 x* E
Normally, police would be dispatched to the collisions described above. One exception may be an owner's discovery that his/her vehicle has been damaged in a hit-and-run, but the vehicle can still be safely driven to Police Headquarters. In such a case, the owner could make a report in person at Police Headquarters.
