now inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3

matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
Z0 U6 Z) P' l- win low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D8009 p- O. N- u9 D) ~& r" h
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject& z# c+ H1 H2 W. B- e
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography
8 p3 J- R) E& H9 v6 I. _: qwas traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
- v! X' h5 X4 `' j, ^% bimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was0 B5 Z* d4 v& x; P* h4 D% Z
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and P+ B8 k+ @3 D! r$ }
convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown
n+ i! z3 M: mbefore, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,; [- a7 Y& V8 N- }
thanks to the D800.
! u3 l5 F0 q8 G8 c' Q3 b2 P0 JWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
+ `8 K& `1 f) w36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
w$ F r( |' R6 S$ mrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces7 k5 g( V8 i" G" d$ S# @/ m$ N
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a. ?4 ?9 ~" M5 Y3 g
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
+ S1 v- e, O" twell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
/ x6 c, b, X9 D9 X( hAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor% ^ R. H9 k8 l" f a* s
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is
) b+ Z6 i1 _+ C4 ]1 A5 [easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while, r! v7 w' \5 m0 S
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
# h* y j0 m3 M+ ~- }cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features0 _, i" S, F! [
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality- d+ o; O# v( t
prints and video.9 j. c8 x* F' P% t) p7 z; r. I% O) C
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
2 f) a: {: e7 H5 W$ Enot megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models
1 N" e, U! H8 @+ }are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using: s7 W+ M8 {( c/ Q+ _; \8 l
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first! N6 b' E1 F& |& y6 U& @/ g
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
' P1 Z. a: X- a2 M* U! k7 R% z5 Mlike never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
& m5 J) G3 d# e* J2 n" t# Iacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I S" T* A2 y% n& ~
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as/ S h8 { N! ^: H* z
though they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
; _9 U3 ]+ R- w! ^- vphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
+ P' i% E# `6 N. K& I8 _tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
. Z2 i8 Z7 \! j' n4 {5 H8 ]1 c6 vD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
' P& u, ?# `, z& ais that now I will think differently about the images I make.

compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they

clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility% c- J" K. q. s( y0 \6 t: Q
