I don't think it is caused by Telus if your VPN is not working, because almost any ISP allows a variety of VPNs. You firstly should have all necessary information from your Toronto side. If your VPN client setup is not working, you should contact your Toronto server.

7 H# l7 n, E4 E) sIf your side is not a network to use VPN, but a single machine, you don't need to set your router except allowing firewall ports for VPN (different types of VPNs use different TCP/IP ports. Your router has to allow these ports's traffic.).
