• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed C4 _* i+ ?5 p" r1 l
• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components4 ^) ~- Y, \+ E7 f# C: ^
• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers2 N, ~* A. U, ^$ i1 ^. l2 ?
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams' J' U9 T4 u: r+ m
• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place' W/ S2 h! g1 {/ R
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment/ t8 |; I- `2 J' H2 {- S% O
• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools' q: F! W* _ R4 V3 _ F
• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting& u6 D" S& Y4 ?' d
• Mix paint, blend and match colors; ] ^2 r. ? c
• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns; Q1 e: F4 l9 R" L
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs4 M: r1 h, v( ?! E
• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation+ A# x. m5 e' S) |
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling
! B; J0 r' g4 c& W; F6 _, sEducation and Experience Requirements:% b% p5 h/ n6 _/ Y2 N( g; N
• Completion of secondary school is required$ L% R6 j1 ?7 S; V+ o( v
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program 4 c& ^3 A a8 g* x
or7 _. R) E& \/ `4 A! h) B9 N' {" f
A combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade + q5 ^5 e9 C% E5 R6 h' L
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory ! @, W) u W* S4 z
