Job Description:+ c$ N* J m3 s, {$ e8 V/ F
• Review damage report and estimates of repair cost and plan work to be performed
, ?' j* P& r8 o3 |• Repair and replace front end components, body components, doors and frame and underbody components
/ A: f' {3 I. V$ P0 F5 R$ w• Hammer out dents, buckles and other defects using blocks and hammers# X: L- {2 d& a! G- @
• Operate soldering equipment or use plastic filler to fill holes, dents and seams
% ~3 E& H& q* q d4 {1 d• Remove damaged fenders, panels and grills using wrenches and cutting torch and bolt or weld replacement parts into place' |* B9 ] B4 Q' X* t
• Straighten bent frames using frame and underbody pulling and anchoring equipment
6 D; m7 G# S* X• File, grind and sand repaired body surfaces using hand and power tools
4 J! F: M! L1 N/ e$ f5 ~" g' E• Mask and tape auto body surfaces in preparation for painting+ R9 g& e, f) W! N
• Mix paint, blend and match colors
$ V8 }- p/ R) I& ]8 d• Apply primers and repaint surfaces using brush or spray guns+ {. C1 m6 F3 z: f8 c. ?
• Repair and replace glass components such as windshields, windows and sunroofs
: U( i4 g( n! z• Repair or replace interior components, such as seat frame assembly, carpets and floorboard insulation. \& z2 Q+ Z' \; }
• Inspect repaired vehicles and test drive vehicles for proper handling6 ^" c. f0 i0 ]& f/ i
Education and Experience Requirements:; }* l$ b+ i/ h4 g1 @
• Completion of secondary school is required/ a9 V9 ~" {% n$ ^1 o/ x2 q- ?
• Completion of a three- to four-year motor vehicle body repair apprenticeship program + s) V" B. U5 l: f0 `2 H' ]& n: V
or
8 u3 I0 ], m* b. OA combination of over three years of work experience in the motor vehicle body repair trade $ ]" F4 X7 i9 Z+ A3 _; r
• Alberta Trade certification for motor vehicle body repair (metal and paint) is compulsory . m. |* e3 W( T8 V# b1 D% h
