7 f6 |! j7 C  _9 @2 D  EYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
. x2 G5 G. B7 h1 n& Z- jAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
. [6 J3 q7 ]! E: E6 Cpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
( a$ L0 u+ {* Z% o2 M$ d; h% B
8 ^+ z$ r+ C$ R/ Z9 Hproject that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
4 _8 A  ]. [5 J$ femployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
9 q& I' e6 U9 s: oThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
( p/ y- L2 I0 w  mpersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
5 g6 N& j2 M, P% d! ^* g0 `( D: TAdditionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
  _" I/ h9 e* B/ e5 |- t& Zand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

! R- S8 k8 P& P& f% a- C  \. O/ tVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
