YOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
Advocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
+ |+ u0 S! i6 qpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
5 @1 r% r# H$ uemployability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
8 B. I3 z" n6 C0 Q& P$ X% MThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
the skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
3 J' j2 y  K0 ppersonal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
4 D: ?" F* ~% p$ f. _5 e) l: @Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
/ ^* B$ b3 {: m% Q6 Uand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
) i4 E) T1 D$ M- eYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
