you should always remove the old top layer for a number of reasons.

the old under layer can be removed or you can leave it in depanding on its condition. if you want to remove it, it's a lot of physical labour work.

installing the new carpet is very easy, but again it's a lot of physical labour. carpets are a lot heavier than most people think. plus, you'll need to do your own measurements, cutting, transportation of new/old material, etc./ y- p0 T3 z6 H7 g+ s% U2 g

end of roll usually have good deals on material and labour to install carpets. give them a call to see if they can swing you a deal. depand on the size of your room and the grade of the carpet you're looking for, I'm guessing you can get away with less than $750 all in. * Z4 Q' F5 k5 `4 J C N

ultimately, you have to decide if you want a professional look and feel or some quick and dirty fix. mix and matching small patches of carpet can be an eye sore in a long run. |
