Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
3 _8 ~" F- Z+ |% H-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
- provide support to ISP staff
" H/ x0 {0 E3 `" J- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
% d$ o  x5 ~  x8 J. m" g6 _- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
! E& P9 T& t8 r4 ?( B! _- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
8 W0 j/ Z+ [+ f- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
* H" P  j: [) w" n2 t- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
, A* Q0 e7 R+ `( r1 t1 r8 a- @7 m- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
5 m$ c2 C' w6 y- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned
* u$ A* D/ ?( E0 b' A- other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  f. K* X. E# k* R- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
9 L1 V5 Z8 M! j+ G5 i: o' V- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
- @. t- E5 ]. J. C3 W, H9 E# O- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills
9 L& m' q1 E7 t  w2 f- z- valid driver’s license

Other
5 v3 _2 C' e+ W+ e; N) E# U1 K+ m2 M- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
