Position: Outreach Worker

1 _3 t+ u2 E+ Y2 cJob Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
6 a5 \% D5 j8 [# O- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
2 ^3 r0 b2 G; S5 I& `5 I1 x; I- w* j-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
# @" S0 r8 v+ A: R- provide support to ISP staff
/ ^& [3 n, O* W- s, X, O- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
; Q8 h! _/ R* d* g$ J- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
( z/ |5 m! d8 R) \+ `" E- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
6 r6 |$ ]. @1 b* M& C- @- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
9 T/ h% V( r2 @! G5 f- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned

+ l' \! A' U+ t( R7 ^9 \0 k; hQualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
) J3 l2 e  G2 h6 n7 f+ O- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
) m" {8 |0 [$ ]- good interpersonal and people skills
: I7 ^7 I: U3 U- good organizational and coordination skills
- valid driver’s license

Salary
( b4 Q( G: X$ Q( [0 n' R8 k$ M- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
