Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

7 w9 [& s7 Q# \! j1 [8 Y Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
& m: l! |7 B; U1 o( u; P Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
9 v* Y- r8 Z: b* ?) Q# { Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
% J4 r9 N8 V) c3 \  Z' w% C Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
 Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
 Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.

Qualifications:

4 h0 C1 m3 o( [" g* ?6 A; f& Q Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
; `# ]. g1 A$ h( P- n. y Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
8 w8 N' a0 s# K) |( Y) K Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
$ C5 `) G% V7 h& P$ q" u* istarting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
