A 13-month-old Edmonton toddler died Saturday morning in a local hospital, two days after being admitted in critical condition. Homicide detectives charged a 44-year-old man with second-degree murder in the little boy’s death.

The boy died shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.6 M& q9 G. ^7 s' r
0 J: a3 R- w: O7 V! PThe name of the accused and the victim can not be released due to a provision of the Child Youth Family Enhancement Act, which prevents release of any details identifying the child, their siblings or their guardians. 2 N" ~3 I# y+ z

The accused man will appear in court on Monday. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
