FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

4 h) R2 e" S. D; C5 i. x9 Q• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
" b' h! U0 O+ `• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
9 S3 S* }  C8 X+ C/ c2 qBi /Reporting/ETL
• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
+ h; L# l# i. `! J* I3 N0 B• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
0 r/ N% a( A  M% `4 B$ ^. I3 S• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
5 |% `  [7 P+ C/ d* S  f4 J3 n• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
/ z. I; M# O% `3 |* w0 H/ S• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
, F! s% c/ K1 Y& t/ t3 N$ r/ b# z• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
3 L- C# |2 A  O- D$ d• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
. g( X- Q# j8 |5 Y) a• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
5 F8 f2 r4 l2 u: [$ S0 A• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
