CALGARY - A fire has halted operations at one of Suncor Energy's two oilsands upgraders north of Fort McMurray, the company said Tuesday.

$ y, T4 u8 C/ X6 u/ ]& rThe energy giant said the 125,000-barrel-per-day unit was shut down after the fire, and it is currently assessing damage.$ }' m9 k( O, R- y7 B* w3 @( V& ?0 y
6 y0 V4 Z- y& lSuncor has been plagued by a series fires at its oilsands operations in the past five months, suffering three fires since October in the upgraders which convert bitumen into synthetic crude oil.
