In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
: }; c5 U9 T7 |* c& vPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ' c( T/ H2 \, ?2 ~- e0 O2 G
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
9 g% u( u& y$ z9 sOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
& K* d% r9 W9 oMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
1 b) H z, X" k+ `Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. 0 M) a' U/ y8 L# C P4 S
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. ) u3 [- F2 @9 c! M% I0 B* D' X2 {
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 4 ^8 g; s3 R" T/ K
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. / c3 b% z" W$ H% S
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. ; @7 s/ X, a$ p2 g
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. , p2 H6 C" I, H; a3 Q( L4 S& V
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 4 a' v" _& \0 V+ M( r% L
Qualifications 3 G1 s5 i g' a
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
0 X1 f5 P/ ~8 T9 _* ]; \& B" f v! p" CPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. . n* Y: p: q0 y6 ?5 A
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
. K% V6 p0 l: H1 D' ^' [, ~Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. , [* j9 T9 a5 t4 B
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
