4 K: f, D+ v- q$ AIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. * ]. x% z: N* |4 L) ?3 |6 c
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. / D; G. ]0 A/ A# v/ v3 I
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
& {0 N: d. }1 }# G) p2 n+ b0 C3 \Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
0 L$ R2 V: M! ~+ e. jMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
- |2 `' A, O4 n; o) QMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
' j0 X- p/ [. S& e3 }Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. % C# d2 `2 J) c. Q& e( r, E1 Q
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
% z& \3 ?3 t8 [7 `Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
- a4 {: {+ N, c$ W5 [9 R0 P/ nPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
9 s& ~ o. a, V/ TPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 8 @8 n0 t% W4 Q+ s& k" C
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
+ ]) j2 p* t- d, JIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. 9 }. B, U. ?. e5 U
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
