In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
. K4 a' @5 m- F0 B. ePlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
8 Y& O. _" k" s2 q/ _* FAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
" B2 u6 T0 _; V: ^% M6 Z6 @% MOversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
6 X2 P9 L& P5 C+ w; f, f$ AExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
6 S# r: I( O8 b& g* X, g( CAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
8 a: p8 ]8 f6 p3 x: I! W4 gEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
Qualifications
7 l# `4 O, z2 |; E/ u. {4 PA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
; ?8 t1 N7 @, b1 WPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
/ T: Y& ~/ Q# CPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
