" V* k4 _ o( [In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
* T; l- v7 H, V. s/ g4 fPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ' K' ]: U' u: r/ ~6 d
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. 0 o" F, d* h- c; @
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
. T7 u: h: l6 u6 A. [8 OMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
8 d9 f: U! B" Q( |) H* xMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
) M0 }5 V4 o" aExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 9 @& b% L7 r: g, j: l; B
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 3 ?: O1 N( }; p, q8 Q+ y# i
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. : }% Z! |: S- `% S
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. " ~5 \+ ~- ?3 ~( s6 J. x$ p5 @
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
0 d) l9 e" c; X4 i7 bEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. 7 \; m; L) o0 n' V4 o& Q
Qualifications
: n d; A9 h6 \1 BA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 0 k r1 w l; V% { ]
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
; R0 F( h o+ a$ m0 P1 RPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. . _9 s4 b& z; G, n
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. $ F8 K# V( i! b4 x
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
, t% \% V. P' V* s/ eProficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ' b" r. C+ W' u% q# ~& V. r0 ^
