Responsibilities
7 q$ ~* A4 O% J \; v$ UIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 3 w! D+ @- }' G j! V) n0 v
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
: f" N4 V+ i6 U+ TAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
6 K. C- t8 h2 O" l/ F' x. t: DOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. X0 o# s& N; u" Y+ m6 [
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
# w0 H9 d8 ]: v; _; z) I/ r8 H" ~Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
% v) Y: }( f4 N1 T, L8 W \Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
1 R! N3 k& X d! p. G7 yEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
- g9 v0 W$ s- Q7 MDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. . R, T* N1 j# F7 \7 q
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
# U3 j! R$ w' V) WIs knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. . B+ q2 e6 @9 A0 @- f; t
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. " W, o" y) Y9 ?6 X# h0 S+ Z; K
Qualifications * m4 J/ N6 H+ H* w& [
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 8 I' Q& \" h9 x: [
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
! F) v) P" r+ U( W/ h2 EPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 8 x) m4 W1 E. }- r# t& [% L
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
& |' x. D' ]$ o8 V+ }( L) {Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. + \ {: B- \) Z' g F" }/ U: m
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. ; ^$ Y5 y' f6 ^8 v; z
