When I was a kid, my mom liked to make1 X! v7 e1 w: t8 q; D J# @. g
breakfast food for dinner every now and then. And I remember one night in8 P& Y1 }: T0 Y7 a ^0 o0 a
particular when she had made breakfast after a long, hard day at work. On that" k; @/ l7 `3 z
evening so long ago, my mom placed a plate of eggs, sausage and extremely burned# m$ `( w: q, v) a% y; X3 ^( Z& u, J
biscuits in front of my dad.. I remember waiting to see if anyone noticed! Yet H/ v0 Z# s$ h0 o b
all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my mom and ask me how my day
0 F8 [2 R9 K6 w8 J8 J& z7 @was at school. I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember8 ~ b" h- |7 T$ J4 Y# g- B" L2 [4 E+ F
watching him smear butter and jelly on that biscuit and eat every4 L/ E9 V/ o" G( b8 j$ `
bite!

, O& w; x, q- s* LWhen I got up from the table that evening, I remember hearing my
h. Z8 H8 m6 y$ `* a- Z5 }mom apologize to my dad for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he
# F" s- Q; B9 v4 u3 @said: "Honey, I love burned biscuits."

p, K1 a5 G/ P; a3 F) _Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him if he really liked his biscuits burned. He wrapped me in his arms and said, "Your Momma put in a hard day at work today and
9 j# n* j$ O6 I; ^* qshe's real tired. And besides - a little burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!") U4 s( T4 [& W
) @5 z' Y9 k( S. {: K
You know, life is full of imperfect things.....and imperfect, k& I0 H, T# D. r2 F
people. I'm not the best at hardly anything, and I forget birthdays and# |" @* r5 c/ r2 \3 u
anniversaries just like everyone else.' e* v M. U0 ^1 \$ r
* n! n8 G8 i: F" }2 V' h: E
3 g6 q" i" S* o( b9 C4 w9 h; J: ]
What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others faults - and choosing to celebrate0 B' H/ p2 E! S" q. b) w1 k
each others differences - is one of the most important keys to creating a9 m T, ]0 H3 L$ U
healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

. r, P2 F, Y( g1 L; c, lAnd that's my prayer for you today. That you will learn to take the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of your life and lay them at the feet of God. Because in the end, He's the only One who will be able to give you a relationship where a burnt biscuit isn't a deal-breaker!7 B7 Z; O4 Z; B) o
