, ]+ B5 V" f! nPosition: Outreach Youth Worker / Program: Community Development / Terms: Full time 37.5. hrs week. This is a One year contract October 12, 2009 to October 15, 2010 / Reports to: Manager, CD / Probation Period: 3 months / Supervises: Practicum Students & Volunteers / Closing Date: 4:00 p.m. 10.07.09., n# T/ `* ^8 e' t* p6 Q1 U. 8 ?7 T$ |' A5 j1 M# F5 i6 C4 aEMCN works with a multi-cultural community to provide support to youth (ages 9 – 27) through mentorship, recreation and education.. J+ n0 i! x5 Z5 l( y9 E2 c2 i
' X& @' h2 W0 |" i* `Responsibilities: build relationships with existing immigrant/refugee youth and their community; provide workshops or work with other agencies to provide workshops on racism, bullying, conflict resolution, leadership, public speaking and others advocate for immigrant youth in the community; creatively plan, organize and evaluate small group activities; support Settlement Practitioners in Schools in their work with families and schools through mentoring, educational sessions and other capacity building activities; learn about EMCN and other programs, services and resources for youth and families for referral.

: o$ Q5 p1 s% |8 X$ p% c: r% TDesired Skills, education/experience: strong commitment to providing quality services working in an intercultural environment; ability to document and complete reports in an accurate manner; facilitation skills required; development and delivery of workshops; ability to prioritize duties ,ability to perform a variety of diverse tasks; proficiency in both official languages is an asset, as is fluency in languages other than English/French; experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet Usage; extensive evening and weekend work required.

) y/ D! X% D- ]; ]+ R: H3 F. t" KEducation/Technical Skills: Post-secondary education, diploma or degree, preferably in Youth Development, Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, however work experience will be considered. A clean driving abstract and car is needed for this position.
