Program Overview:

, E3 e( Q1 j3 e1 a+ QIntegrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
( U( B( d0 V) gskills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
program combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
2 I# V" P# I' q# j) C0 t( C* oexperience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
warehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
. L0 U4 X# ^8 ^3 k- K8 D* oservices and others.

Candidate Profile:
  X+ c& d( \6 @: i1 ^$ p( r
Candidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
! g/ Z1 I) B, \+ \& }*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
& u# Q0 J9 {$ @. o" O*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
8 {5 A* K" f  |2 [9 ~secondary education
*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
occupation
*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
  B1 [: Z" T( e8 m8 h! O+ p*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:
9 Z( X% S- O' U0 ?" `
                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
field trips
        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
0 S; h+ C# m( ^4 ~3 ~" Khigh-demand occupations
- q* i; H# n3 K2 b' D  r        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
# b; h9 P$ `" o5 a, y- YInternet, etc.)
        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling
; Q1 h5 K; J' Z( L+ h                        *        1 month work-experience placement

; D& h+ }8 H6 ]# M4 EClass Schedule and Location:
! O# a% q' F) g
        *        September 12, 2005 to January 31, 2006

        *        9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (tentative)
        *        All classes are held at The Path to Employment, 10211 - 97

Students may be eligible for tuition and living expenses from Student
Finance.
