Position: Independent Living Support Worker / Terms: Part time (20 hrs. week) Location: Edmonton / Salary: based on education & experience / Closing Date: open until a suitable candidate is found.

Abstract: position offers both crisis/on-going support for individuals/couples with chronic or complex mental health issues + those who face multiple barriers to independent living to enhance their ability to live successfully within their community by reducing barriers involved in meeting their economic, social and personal needs.

" ^$ w8 K( d* W, W" V1 F8 f9 L& TPosition is also responsible for providing crisis intervention, intensive outreach support, advocacy, information and referrals to internal and external resources as appropriate.
) H8 N* ^" l; j! S6 e/ s
% P$ m* Z8 K& r/ u7 B% d( `Education/Experience: Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Rehabilitation Services or equivalent + relevant experience; familiarity with issues of poverty/homelessness; AB Class 5 license, satisfactory drivers abstract and own vehicle.

  U8 X5 ]+ H# `7 i0 ?% l/ HSkills & Abilities: Strong written/verbal communication skills; effective assessment skills and ability to work from a strength-based perspective; ability to develop goal plans with the program participant; ability to establish rapport and trust with the program participants; strong problem solving skills and an ability to flexibly manage multiple tasks.

PLUS: Knowledgeable about community resources; ability to be self-directed and work well within a team; ability to develop productive working relationships with program partners & other community agencies; ability to develop service plans with program participants and provide follow-up to support them in the achievement of their goals.
