Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. We are looking for 4 temporary full time summer staff.

Key Responsibilities Include:0 g. F! [! @- d3 D0 g. a
Activity Planning and Daily Activity5 O# d6 i) j1 g" N' O* L8 V- o$ c
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
8 {* i2 x+ z' t6 _* |• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
5 b# d; i) R5 e1 e& m+ U• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 8 i2 z) h. f d! ]8 \; Y" q
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
& l; k, ^# I* U/ z+ |• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.' m: n, a* c, p6 i3 @6 }( c' C
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.8 }7 J# q; c" H. u3 S3 N+ ]

The successful candidate will have:5 I: h& M* q, z2 M9 i c
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting) l; {0 E) b% ]. L* Z1 S5 S
• Experience with children
5 Q8 Y3 J W7 k% [• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
$ l/ r; j7 w% O4 j• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring., s, F0 |0 `: w, d; T& @$ G/ s
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.& G, `5 U0 |- p' j' R) D" U! C7 o
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
P" r# R2 V$ k. U5 f• Documentation of a clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check / L3 L& H# z: o- Y4 E
• Documentation of a clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check . X, }' a2 }8 l' g3 O) y
