Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Activity Planning and Daily Activity4 B/ n9 C6 |; V( |# G
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
+ P' C; Z/ Q7 o; ^• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
- T6 Q8 m8 X/ L( B8 U• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 1 N4 I* n7 h- Y* n# z4 A1 ` L
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
0 r1 J# V+ Q! y• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.2 q. d, S$ S3 A7 ?( m. h8 l5 A, s9 I
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
1 {8 [0 W. ?. Q' y. z2 y• Experience with children# J$ q( Z+ r9 v$ i
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
3 c2 y2 e, c3 ^, a; P/ W' B- F• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.) u5 i5 ?$ Z: C1 {
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.. z9 I2 |( n4 f
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources) e+ I& h- y9 J' y$ W3 B
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check + o, N5 [" v5 E' X/ \( @! f% g
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check 2 {" S/ [8 w7 I% h& C% o
