Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

Key Responsibilities Include
: t9 L% r/ V' L% ^ h6 c) gActivity Planning and Daily Activity. a7 P$ Q. T7 l9 N& B0 d
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
& W1 {8 _- `4 J. H. e- p; s• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 6 \1 A3 U9 T6 o N. ~
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, ' s9 i: \1 A% F4 ]
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
! M( I3 Y, S; j4 r• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
' k! r6 N2 C% ]. @, y2 u0 ^4 m k• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:8 k2 t9 n5 \ ^7 M# r
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting& w% [7 _# T! K7 S- e8 S$ `
• Experience with children
% K, s2 S' U. |$ I5 x" R0 ^3 r• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 1 c( B6 K$ a; y7 \7 \; t) @
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.- K& T9 }: Q1 N3 h. W
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
- Y3 K2 M6 _1 x0 w5 j• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources" @8 Z: |9 @! w+ P" m) b6 d, L
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
7 T7 r* ]! ]- h+ e• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check 6 `5 C/ p( Y; |2 S& ^% l4 }0 x

In addition to an excellent work environment, The Africa Centre & Big Brothers Big Sisters offer an hourly salary of $15-hour .
