FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

" S/ B3 q' o, o0 OFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
6 h- [1 N6 v8 N/ t) q! o0 L) rand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
0 e2 n6 f2 e( N) Jresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

9 C; ?2 c$ U/ X, v& uJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

% ?9 M; z) v% b% Z# zDuties:
# ]4 H+ Z  j& o/ N' `/ Z3 w2 q- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- v0 N" c; Q# i  M  s# Q- Assist with equipment maintenance
4 @; h$ O- P+ v- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
8 y( [4 `- D6 S& o4 S9 s6 e- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
9 T3 |0 g! c7 H# R1 E: M) [4 I0 c- Provide vacation relief

' i& f) ^) O3 _! u- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
( O. h- v2 L! t4 M* c( l- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
9 n5 @$ O4 t) G/ j* E3 dsecondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

* w, y( S, m0 k$ p! d1 \& _- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment

" a6 {- Q1 Y( }: C0 b- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- ]9 t$ h- a6 V5 s9 E- Strong team player abilities
