Duties
3 O: T! Z% n7 z- W- U9 i/ ?2 Q$ g" ]( J; b$ Q& a
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
5 ^/ O( x5 q2 Q0 [ * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
6 E; I2 ?9 P" }9 |) m, B * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
4 K e- }8 {0 ^# I9 m6 G- N" e3 f' h% F * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students ; T E- W- l q/ T
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
) q9 S2 m% B( O * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
) ^8 x5 P, \# D: ?0 \' J2 r- A * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
