Duties
* c: K- o0 s; X& n; z. s% }
' w7 `* n& ]# ]' c4 v+ q * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
# N1 p6 H* C" v6 t! _4 ^4 x * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis6 H) e/ P3 B H8 o+ P5 ~
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
' @% F, [. ?- A" Q * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
# c' q! Y3 x/ O1 j! D2 b- b* N * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies

* h' {. g2 C$ X3 G# Q * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

Qualifications" v3 F- A7 b A! M6 o

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
# j4 p2 l b& e$ e2 s) E* I * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
