A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.
6 Q$ g1 E* O' SThis program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
# K" a! \4 l/ Iknowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
. D' g+ [: Y4 b5 J) i& E" }The program includes the following elements:
$ O6 R0 a. t( U( k; \6 R2 f• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
+ I, O8 H( R |6 G4 x• Standard Child Care First Aid
# D% i. T) H2 g* v• WHMIS, r- N* D! ?+ h* x: ~5 w
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
' x7 z) r$ V0 \0 @0 J; d. u: Y• Components to improve communication skills
2 ~4 q, l2 k0 |3 S( r! k. L- b; H' \2 x0 K• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search

Eligibility Criteria! d5 B# T3 Y8 z$ B: U6 P! Z
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen, }: Z' n# X9 c: E. |, p* F
of Canada
7 O: R# b; ]' x) j• have a Social Insurance Number
3 i# Y7 u" o7 B• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
1 g& S1 ]7 N" G) O7 G3 O• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
5 S: e) {$ N) L8 S+ T• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time
6 e, W* | Y; g) X+ J W2 Qprogram* z5 H7 h- `4 C ` T: {- i$ Q
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
" v' P/ b; Z# E; W: ithe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
& Y: D3 z1 n2 K/ h X% B0 G• be unemployed or underemployed., Q _: g) B4 W' x- E- P
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course8 B/ P& m4 W' V J7 c; p3 a
• meet the financial eligibility criteria% K! r; ]1 g. A5 g5 @
