A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.' U: e# A. [& Z+ ?9 F: X$ `) y
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
1 i6 J2 j/ W! M! y- @knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.) u& `7 z: N- g8 B& B
The program includes the following elements:7 g+ ?5 ~3 o. r4 G1 S, t& y
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)( }6 @# c$ t- ~
• Standard Child Care First Aid
' X( f P. R% a. F- z5 G• WHMIS. R/ C9 k( ?* W$ n7 y; ^/ V$ b, g
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
# p. R$ j8 ^5 ~1 Q+ p; B0 B2 G% P• Components to improve communication skills
) v( V0 c) b, I- o0 e• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search, H* U8 U, J4 G; Q @
• Practicum Placements

• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen' N5 u+ n" f8 r' D! I# ?0 F- m
of Canada0 ]1 j5 {% ~7 ]. M$ A0 Q3 {
• have a Social Insurance Number
/ ^1 N' P: B/ b2 r6 b, j* D• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
' v/ L3 B' c0 a• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
2 _" ]4 j! f* s4 [1 l2 m/ e% R• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

6 h$ B+ X2 N7 _. J9 B+ LParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
! I( B8 H" b" d& Y. Cthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:7 b0 r. I9 D8 T9 {+ ?+ |
• be unemployed or underemployed.
" M) X+ ~* d' P- b/ JThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course2 w6 i( a9 w4 W: p2 B" [% N
• meet the financial eligibility criteria. H$ Q1 [! U' _
