A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.8 k' \8 G) U! Z6 Y- _0 t! K
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and
0 S" x6 l& J q+ |knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.7 {) X2 Q* U1 ^ F$ K8 \
The program includes the following elements:% q4 p8 ~: f" E+ O8 v
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
) |$ D, M+ n) e7 ~( l( v1 |• Standard Child Care First Aid
1 w6 Z" {. U4 P$ X1 [• WHMIS
, d" o# p$ _5 }8 N7 M& p• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care0 l z/ ~! T/ o5 K$ d* A* ]
• Components to improve communication skills) H" `$ c2 p8 z
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search

% _" j! `9 S: I6 K2 }Eligibility Criteria0 `/ a# H' u& M# D5 t
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen
: k6 U5 b4 A, j O8 l5 t* Jof Canada( x B0 ~& u# T+ G% Q0 ]
• have a Social Insurance Number# W. d, R& K% Y8 n1 K
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
- W/ K* s) P/ }* h. P, L- E: D• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent
# T# p, G$ f! H) o• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time$ ?6 \; d, T( j% J, Y

Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
2 k8 l2 u6 }6 o" K% Z8 ?6 Uthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
! j6 y. d) w9 r• be unemployed or underemployed.9 t# {, ?" p% c! Q
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course: L- k4 A7 X+ W0 ^3 p2 R; F8 F
• meet the financial eligibility criteria
