Hello Everyone,
I want to let you know about a 3 week program you can take for FREE withthe city of Edmonton. You can learn about home composting, recycling andother things. It's on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday.Look at the attachment for more information and to register. The deadlineis this Friday, March 13. The program is in April. It would be a great way to practice your listening and speaking skills.

Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!

Note: Application Deadline is March 13, 2009.

Dear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the
Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
5 R0 R2 W% ~8 o2 w: d2 k(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about
8 A4 [; X! ~+ k+ W  Qenvironmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
7 j) o6 x# q" n" M$ Y% A" ]management; home composting; household hazardous waste;
& C$ l% s2 K5 d) Pvermin-composting and residential recycling.

This course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips
to various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates
) h% o, v* b  f+ ~1 ^complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:
: c5 D+ ^% U7 H# M! Greduce, reuse, recycle and recover.  Graduates become important
% C1 F* n! I! x0 N' X5 x9 zresources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
( i/ b0 E1 m+ ~$ J8 e& k& ^- limportance of composting and recycling.

Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the
% Q) o+ r3 C0 S6 L( Y5 ^Reuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;
  ]+ g& `( z2 s. p( F3 tpublic education display booths; assisting with programs and
maintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at
various demonstration gardens and general public and school
presentations.

! Z3 h2 q& g  X. l5 F0 |  oThere are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and
volunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the
" J9 P8 o+ D2 N. s/ r( _: p6 \most. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your
knowledge with others, then apply to become a Master
! O+ ?& o% V7 qComposter-Recycler Volunteer!

Course Dates: April 14 - May 2nd, 2009 -Tuesday and Thursday evenings
