Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!

Dear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the: H1 q, ]3 H& Y% d1 \; J* V: L
Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule3 ?7 W5 V) h* @* g
(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about
1 ^- W8 r. K9 ]0 A9 K, o0 Jenvironmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
3 N6 N+ u$ R) W8 Lmanagement; home composting; household hazardous waste;
! |# `; m6 l# [/ d, N; r2 m Ivermin-composting and residential recycling.7 A: U4 W0 `2 f; O* @
A& s! s. }$ a' u \: b( b1 [This course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips
6 x( o- E0 C& l" D% K" r' S& z, ^to various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates6 i5 s1 [+ P; ^8 N. |/ S; v) i
complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:3 T$ U ?" `6 c' @1 S- Z( p9 [& y
reduce, reuse, recycle and recover. Graduates become important! j+ n h, u+ a2 G' ]
resources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the/ E: }5 e+ z/ v J
importance of composting and recycling.

( z8 V- q$ k6 @. i$ K* L4 K$ b8 hExamples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the# H/ t3 s" z7 c; z6 Q: I" V
Reuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;
2 X7 ~, l1 C4 Y8 C+ o+ R9 Q7 s& J( lpublic education display booths; assisting with programs and
! k4 q8 W3 w6 ^3 e. }maintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at, E+ \3 W5 {0 k$ a: O, V* t
various demonstration gardens and general public and school# a; X, l- |. L! F7 X
presentations.5 f O( S. W3 v: w0 k
$ w' S8 M/ h& G- o
There are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and. l7 a" L; S6 }
volunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the0 a; Z2 e3 B- h) g# x
most. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your
