9 z B% X( p& k! UPayment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens." c3 G' B c) H4 g( j+ W P, m+ U
2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.. B" f2 N% f9 ]2 x
3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.5 P6 W& w" }! ~
4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.
