Duties

* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region* i4 y4 U$ h3 G+ D+ B
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group9 ~, D& M7 @, b# [
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators6 [0 S3 s( q4 ^+ M' A
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations. _% w6 w/ R5 V, _+ R
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
% [# E. s+ b( Y5 J- G( [2 _- K * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses

* Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
+ F. h% W U+ i! ~ I * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment i/ _) Z. @$ T
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports/ t E9 d: o% B4 m I
* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
/ s- Q# ?% s$ Q; ^; ^+ z * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
) [; n3 R& Q$ w) D% j/ E& d * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications; Z. p3 Y2 ?- W; l. M* [# u
: w2 D$ f$ S5 E9 h* b
* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline4 f' S3 J3 t, I9 A8 V, F. a7 x
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth- N$ j* i. V6 w2 Q
* Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
% C6 w% P" ^ z; D * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
, P8 X# G: h2 ?1 k0 M1 O * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community& l( o/ Z n5 B G1 h& U% S
* Fundraising skills an asset
