Duties

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
) |, i) d- E4 `6 A- w    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses

    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
) m/ [3 C5 x$ D; K; w! R3 s  ~    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

# R9 B. I( w. ~6 b* W* X    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
( N. \1 T7 p* q( a; N    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
8 M% V1 j, H7 {; q* o4 [4 p. {$ l    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
/ C& G# V! W; r9 t    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
