6 Z" \% a1 T2 i# k0 [6 }: N& Y$ _Duties

    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
# `; a: e% Q# [$ Y8 E    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses

+ C+ g, j+ y3 t6 ^) K' j* C    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
+ J' |! q7 F: w. U/ f+ _    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
! P+ h7 a: [, h$ o* n    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
+ R( m9 X( G) {! a8 l  O    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
0 M$ Y& l+ s* K9 S5 t) q' z! C    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset

    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
7 `! I2 i' c, I    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
