    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region8 F* J* k3 B$ N' |2 P+ X8 h. l
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group" |% g' l2 l1 W" \  j, r" C
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
# `; a: e% Q# [$ Y8 E    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations) X, u. [2 `5 C- Y' L3 a( u
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director3 R7 B3 h- P* h
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
4 G4 {6 I: D$ ~) i) z  Q- G2 ]7 p    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
: k7 I7 r9 Y9 |6 w# @, k8 k    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
+ C+ g, j+ y3 t6 ^) K' j* C    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment# l9 b6 X: C! @) W6 {2 L3 s+ @
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
+ J' |! q7 F: w. U/ f+ _    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
! P+ h7 a: [, h$ o* n    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly/ ]" N5 W2 }& W( _7 E
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
+ R( m9 X( G) {! a8 l  O    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools4 k1 i$ @# k* T9 J- S

Qualifications- x% {/ |: P6 G! x' f$ [
2 y1 K8 u6 g* [, Q7 _
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline# ^# T4 {1 M& h. w
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
0 M$ Y& l+ s* K9 S5 t) q' z! C    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies) I( R5 ~' K  [% \* c# j
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs  x- ^; h/ E  m1 _
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community+ x* H8 ]. P+ c* V$ U$ H* j: b: \# P
    * Fundraising skills an asset
. Z9 Y4 o. A5 A/ l, v# e    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
. w$ d3 Q, V& ?8 r0 E) h3 [0 w/ v    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
& S. v2 \! R5 u% V; M) m    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills4 h4 P# X4 \, l2 g/ B6 e1 w
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
7 `! I2 i' c, I    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
