Duties! r0 [! ]4 o9 P" _* s7 J7 c
0 O, V$ E% m. b( J
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
% W) J" n; d: w: f$ x * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography# B* j- @% T2 _: q6 L9 J
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
( f( k+ T# {- Q+ m" [ * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client. ?6 O& e% k; B' v; F
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
8 R& X' q3 w9 f5 R * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
2 O1 a4 u! z8 j+ w) y * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
% Z# ^& i4 E3 V2 v * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
4 f9 c; M* i/ h `) W0 i * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications

+ Y: p+ C2 b5 E# D * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred6 Q8 `( i- ~, J( s( o- X5 X
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)+ x0 U# `% ~* Y7 @, C" k! Y
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel, N3 e1 G/ F/ L1 l9 l
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
