Duties

0 u5 l$ Z6 ]7 o% ~ * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis" s6 V9 h# D* I6 ]
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography3 }3 X, A! w& ]8 h$ D+ a
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques- a( t( u: p- X. ~- W3 o
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client/ v9 Q% U6 ^0 c. ?6 ?( D' G1 y* d
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry7 m( A S+ g7 d) r# H5 E* P) J
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals9 C! [( _) S8 x
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab" h" s6 c) U* P% {4 b/ e7 _7 e, t
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
. `! E" [+ r) L* B * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

p9 A' a7 x/ G8 U, T" {: O6 R% P8 ? * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
* Q9 G% T6 `2 `4 D+ E: n * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab). A. n6 \, L: \# i2 O5 \
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel3 z, Z7 B% C! l3 g
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
