* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis. z# V0 n9 O. ]
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
4 W$ D: \# Y$ q& i * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques3 ]% h# o- t7 F. O
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
& ~/ P1 y5 c/ z6 l2 K * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
, S! k' r3 g( R9 J! E * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals" g% ]) F3 c( s
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
7 }& P+ @$ @3 c/ Z: L; g * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices3 N' _, U) n0 @: {% J1 N
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)4 z; f; Y, d. s) E; {- T- ?

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
8 S" f& ?! y g. F * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)3 a7 K/ u# U2 B
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
5 B) @& T8 t+ Z * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
[4 B* \, R8 {7 I4 ^; y * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
