" e6 |# _. @4 X9 u- n9 O1 q * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis- o& }: D" S3 r# q6 I3 M
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography5 Y s7 E: i/ R& R
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques8 |# R/ D& V1 V( _' R6 s
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client3 B% E( B1 R) y* G7 ]1 U. ?" E# @
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry6 @+ P* H9 L! m1 u" C3 [
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
% r' A7 ~8 |& g! I * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab

* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)6 k" I# _! C2 i% t& ^

Qualifications1 T, q# O7 w+ T0 L
" o& H5 x H! b" [) G9 _4 U- x * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
& t/ T; A" @ o: \1 j: ], r * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
9 M, P: s2 c% P( o9 _/ e p" R * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
5 F+ E% B8 m- H( J4 t. f* [" j# }+ Z * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures& n b8 [8 V+ C; l$ y( [
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
