* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
& i* v Q. y$ t. Z! m1 h * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
, d- E- J; @3 }8 X$ e * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques0 o5 b1 {3 v0 f5 Q5 c, P; h
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client' A+ W; _8 B8 u# [- B9 g7 G3 g
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry* }7 |: c+ X* G9 Q1 T/ ^
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals0 q# u; b( b# ~( R" A+ t; y
* Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab# h( H# G" @- E! v
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices% i8 H& j6 w7 p1 q* Y
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred; j" ?) j" x2 Y5 S+ ]
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
, n9 e# f" s3 [& W2 W/ _& u * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
c' q r/ m# |4 M' F * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
4 k! n% D1 E: {) P$ q * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
