Full time position in LINC Program; Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30
1 S) U& S1 F# F" I# M& xThe Student Support Specialist is primarily responsible to monitor and maintain the daytime LINC classes and to assist with inquiries, student placement and needs in the LINC Morning and Afternoon programs. The Student Support Spcialist works closely with and is accountable to the ESL Manager.

4 U7 }+ B! J3 F- \$ a v0 AAnswer Daytime inquiries from current and prospective students and make decisions as required;

& Y9 i+ r) R: l6 B% Z4 gMonitor Daytime student attendance and address attendance issues as they arise;

& _% Z8 h+ ?7 x* [( A* E! uProvide orientation to new students arriving throughout the session;

Perform Daytime student intake/exit procedures and maintain student records (with the assistance of the LINC Program Assistant);

; Y& T+ n4 }' B, q E3 ZRespond to ILVARC inquiries about Daytime program details and students’ training histories;

% G/ r* R: y- k/ F8 YProvide updates to the ESL Manager about the changes in LINC classes on a regular basis;

Maintain students’ database on a daily basis, entering any necessary changes in their hours & benchmarks;

Provide weekly reports on Daytime class registration, “seats available” to ILVARC; monthly reports (numerical and narrative) to the ESL Manager for CIC;# c3 K. C$ i& M1 W

: c5 T" l' g, v2 b( s) O+ MCommunicate with teachers any changes in students’ status;

Collaborate with the Evening LINC Program Coordinator in transfering students to different classes and maintaining their files;

Attend meetings as requested.
q1 y; ?# T' r( w6 h. i5 kQualifications, |( B: z& L2 U, q2 U. ~* K

. @8 L: O/ A( U% P R; SUniversity degree, preferably in TESL or Education;
6 Q6 O) p. W* v' O+ t: K•
2 {, q! c: m/ m! z& R3 mFamiliarity with CLBs/ at least one year experience teaching in an ESL classroom, preferably in a LINC program;
: [' z% }' B: }: ^. R* n•* }) U1 S7 f5 d% D
Certification in TESL is an asset;" z% {# I- H! H) l2 ]

Experience working in a cross-cultural environment; V0 v2 I! e" y

Sensitive and able to exercise good judgement with regard to the students’ issues;

Strong organizational skills and accuracy.
