1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)/ i5 j: {& S# c6 t% C
• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department; a" X% Y4 i8 s8 ^+ E7 ~5 V
• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
( x9 k7 o3 q% o# }! O! Y; q7 t" G• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored1 ?& y, i0 q' a' _5 v) i2 Z
• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals) [' H6 W; A* [' j u) O
• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.& j7 j2 y6 E9 F6 {

2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)$ Q7 K* J7 S: y; _) {
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

) ?' m8 z* E& C: g" k! x$ K+ M• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s 7 S0 ]4 H1 i0 P1 W
) e( [5 E; m1 w9 y7 gCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required. ( c* Y' m6 ?1 t
, K1 P% m& R8 ^& X7 f3 Q; VThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
