Position title: Community Development Worker

9 _1 F2 h( H1 l8 n$ Z9 PPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 1 _6 X# ?. i+ I/ y s1 P R

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community2 @) g2 @' ~$ g
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
1 ]8 P( G' D m& Q1 m4 j4 M# N3 z1 R& b- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services8 w0 o" w/ i' x) V4 t) z
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies: r& y6 T* E. E4 K
- coordinate good will activities/ u% S; O; k) u$ u$ p
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.$ J6 o/ c: g& F8 Q
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities# U3 v* V, [) _7 T: v
- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services8 x9 W* U/ O/ K9 F" v- d. a
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
" N0 l7 _7 t ?: ~+ a# e" K- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
( j$ p6 h& l4 [, L- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
9 ]: n% J! l* S- z- good oral and written Chinese and English skills! m/ M( q( g& E7 Y( U
- experience in community work and immigrant services% r$ E' c7 m* m( M: k7 f
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
