Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. + f! X; R! H1 P6 K4 ~

Job Description:
/ @8 _- T# U1 w- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
' j1 {' r! O4 t) ^# Y- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
! Z! ~2 U. s( T/ K$ R) q$ \- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
$ G: }+ X# o# ~7 y- P' F) ?3 _8 P k- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

# r0 x$ \& X6 e- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members2 O' _' p' L @
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services6 ^$ k, c& E" C4 K+ O1 B- M
- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- update membership database

Qualifications4 f: }" `1 A& c1 R- R$ j
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
9 ]- n% F; U. ^! }- good oral and written Chinese and English skills8 ?" p9 ~, D- g
- experience in community work and immigrant services
( h9 [; E& Y$ z, \% Q7 ~6 S9 X- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
8 `% T8 @' K1 u% M9 i1 X0 p- leadership skills7 R- }* D, {. e/ C% K) B
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
