Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 9 I) }9 W( F5 T) V N2 c

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
. h% |9 d! s7 b Y- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
O# U2 x2 ?) W$ z- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
0 v/ G$ D/ X+ o# P" ^4 ?$ A) c% W- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

5 ?# g- C, T! e& X/ f0 }- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members" k& M! P1 x6 w2 ?& U! F0 Z
- submit information for community news
5 z( q3 p" M. I& c. G- prepare and send AGM information to members
8 d, h: w& t, X8 o8 \& V. F* |/ U; O- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.- d! J S/ {. _6 J/ n( L* T
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities: u' Q9 Y) i/ F) Q9 f
- update ASSIST website0 ]' Y8 O, x+ l5 t
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
( a. M6 g$ Z. n9 j* l- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
& F) F; Q# C! W: K! d- assist in writing proposal for ISP

- explore new ideas for ISP + n# t6 X3 z6 n; n0 r# V
- hold regular meetings with ISP team
7 g+ t& Q" P% Y: y' l# I- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

7 N2 @9 R2 Q5 q% ~3 H- S- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 4 ]/ X4 ]' Y4 Y* k( \) Z
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
; L3 c. M" t; [7 w/ G G; [- experience in community work and immigrant services) b- G. x9 I8 ?' K/ y; _# a: |3 D
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars3 G) j8 }& |& p5 @( C3 k" p# ]
- leadership skills
