Position title: Community Development Worker

, u( ~0 N& r s O$ APosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community: D2 i. k( j# }; Z; n5 F
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
4 K) B8 P9 }) O3 A U- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services. j' T+ G! L) [# `" f* F
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies2 Z$ Y) \6 `+ Y# J- y( g/ }
- coordinate good will activities
+ A% z% o' |: A+ o" m8 x+ d- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

. U# H% B) o7 A1 E- prepare and send AGM information to members
F# H8 b" a8 |' _- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.3 w0 x3 @/ p! N
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services" [/ N% j' A5 V9 N* w+ \
- assist in writing proposal for ISP7 a8 \& B% Z' F8 W& F# t
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP! z: ~* P! ?! k. [) A6 r, G
- explore new ideas for ISP
) h7 S6 C+ d. d! _5 r- hold regular meetings with ISP team
) G, d6 [) R r+ O/ t3 O. E R- B- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications2 @: L4 m7 E* l& z
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
; e7 g: {7 R1 Z/ S- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
7 `* R8 O7 L: v/ j- experience in community work and immigrant services( G, T) J) r& G& B; M) U
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars7 [$ Z# P! p- H3 p4 v: x5 N' J
- leadership skills) U8 B# N$ s7 H
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills
