Other costs of leaving have also increased and the university

the fact that the university housing has no more space for newcomers # ]% ]- S. S1 F# ^; @ Y# F+ y1 s
and most of the newly admitted students who applied for housing were
: y/ j" b5 K! I, I* `asked to look for a residence on open market.

# D( V2 Z) p$ ~1 m/ g$ R7 x" oWhile the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has 6 d+ y# k8 G$ [" g
increased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid
1 B' M9 f3 F1 p2 y3 y) v4 y7 V2 Iexactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
8 U: a4 M3 j) P& v. _admission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students 7 T6 k, {) T1 d( \& v. _
=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after . G6 A) i8 T K
tuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just

getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of

admitted and has to incur at least 70% more in average living costs.. X. [' o- D* p

Alberta has a remarkable record in absorbing various money and grants

students are the main pillars of research work at the university.

My objective in bringing all abovementioned points in your attention
! [& o/ n* t( G2 x4 E0 N9 ]) J9 ?is to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and 2 G( I$ `# r/ l6 ]. _! E& h
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take
5 e y; `$ O5 D& v + ~& S6 g4 Q8 r" V1 N7 w' E
initiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for ' ]; K- O* g# U6 @
graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?
