/ i( Z4 r; k. e% [: _/ vEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.' F) w' k0 w9 @# c/ F, P
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability
( I3 F) \. B5 _$ i: F% [to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger " X1 n/ p9 D4 r4 v& Z' g
of the day.
( O% B4 Y% G0 k8 W6 b- k• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
# q% F3 T8 Z4 g1 ~• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
! |5 X# M' o8 G: S$ o; L% i• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.# O4 P3 z3 Q6 K3 C6 k: K! u0 z3 X
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) 9 a) j' f5 Q4 A/ ^; w6 ]
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period. * X0 R0 d8 F- A$ q4 D, _1 Z2 b
• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill 1 K/ E: ]3 \6 J8 l( e5 t
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).7 a b. O3 `; P) s, O
• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.4 O1 ^5 w0 V9 ?5 L w
• Internal ETS applicants must have completed all mandatory in-house training.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week , |) q! {- v6 D

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly
