& p0 {* ?4 V/ m* yEdmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Respond to customer queries concerning transit information.5 t& A6 u# ^: V9 w6 X
• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather
! r/ D. A4 b% {9 aand traffic conditions.

• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations. 3 [5 t8 @- w/ l8 y
• Ensure the safety of all passengers.

! q6 P" K: ]: J' J7 ^; }* x• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.
: K9 a( e# L) Y- c, o- _• Proven ability to deal directly with the public, with well-developed customer service skills; the ability 2 \$ L4 Q# W1 j$ l1 K- _/ J: D. _
to be diplomatic and courteous in dealing with the public, from the first passenger to the last passenger * i* ^2 R1 s* g0 V/ z1 O
of the day.
- O( ]6 J( s7 D+ s0 c6 g0 ^ k5 L• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).- O2 x6 _8 v6 `; z9 g
• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.4 y- Z6 A0 g: }4 R+ J$ U% Z
• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.& Q5 c9 W8 Z6 V5 y5 `$ \7 u
• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date) ) b, K2 r3 ?3 b3 o- g" h
showing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.

• Successful completion of the ETS Training Program.

Various hours of shift work (straight or split shift), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week

Thereafter: Guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly5 }/ H& b( s2 f3 G y1 a5 P* b

SALARY RANGE: 401, Salary Grade: 004 ) G$ u" }4 i# H; U( L+ A
Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly) ^' L$ S$ L6 b f! Z' U6 o
Post Training Rate: $20.36 - $25.45 Hourly) F6 J/ A% g( L
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
