JOB SUMMARY: The Chief Returning Officer reports to the President of

2000. The Chief Returning Officer shall be recommended to Students'

1) To run the elections as per Bylaws 2000

2) To run referenda/plebiscites as per Bylaw 2000.; I2 t* x7 Y1 k9 W# W0 y

3) To choose the Deputy Returning Officer(s) and assign their duties.4 ? Y5 w \$ J, ?3 @# x& T, C+ h
& ?! W: ^# J1 g! r6 Z4) To organize polls during elections/referenda, including appointing 9 M, n7 B+ o# o; |* ]) Q
adequate poll staff and situating polls at appropriate locations ; S' D! N. c: q) r
across campus, and advertising the poll locations.! e% Y; I: d( v5 g
& n i0 ^& r# e% |5 m2 F; d
5) To oversee the physical count of the ballots during elections/
& }/ n/ M7 j* N2 ereferenda.

6) To report the result of an election/referendum to the appropriate ! i% _$ d) q# p* Z- s+ w2 X8 x
parties.

7) To facilitate classroom speaking arrangements during an election/

10) To be available to all parties during elections/referenda for a

from the first working day after nominations close until the last day

11) To act as the arbitrator in any dispute which may arise during * H& X9 u& N; `* T
the course of an election/referendum.! {( z( Y# q6 j8 Z9 N# f, h
8 H+ J6 a; n/ i( g1 L12) To ensure that a cost effective and accurate ballot counting 2 ]9 L6 @# s+ c9 v) c, }
process is in place.0 y; K* G9 F* h8 E$ h' K
7 |0 f: |/ t) x/ N13) To submit to Students' Council, prior to April 30, a final report

6 u( [# [ }5 _! {" {14) To organize a minimum of one (1) forum to be held during the week

* x8 V1 I8 F8 v& l( C: s, J- |/ O6 C1) Must be an undergrad student registered in at least one (1) course
4 J6 z% g) a6 \4 ofor each of the terms of Winter Session and shall be a full Students' # o1 O9 F* G2 T' V* U
Union member.
$ x8 k* @3 q2 g; W% s2 E( D: u6 f; W0 K# `$ ]. D* }; _
2) Must have some experience in student elections./ }% X2 R B2 D/ [3 `
% O% [9 J+ {3 E3) Shall not concurrently hold a position on Students' Council, or 0 h4 n6 S1 L) n! R. L
any of its standing boards, committees, or any other paid position + F6 Z- s+ S8 \9 D! a9 P- N# ~' o
with the Students' Union.

4) Willingness and ability to work varying hours.
