' D5 e7 ] H. T: Q/ Y5 FPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
) ]$ y+ h3 X/ M9 e* @and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a7 r# i l* W H
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta. The ED- X- q9 ^% b' R
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and$ j8 c" j, j& u& F+ F
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
; |& J p' S- A0 g' ?; ~2 W# Uaffairs at all times. e K8 {) G0 _: n0 D5 Y K
+ B/ a$ y! }; i& }$ c3 ^
Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
' I3 k& ^0 c+ [6 M7 i/ t- Uvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
; K0 E2 @! K) {* E2 Qarrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
. B: k& y0 a, Q; K) T$ Vmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
# h3 |2 f. q! F& |for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures9 a$ D0 e& O6 \; n3 c4 Q2 g2 Y
to implement the organizational policies.

- i) g) }0 j9 }$ k' H0 N2 PPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded6 R5 z+ K6 o) h1 A2 _
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and5 d: N$ j7 H4 ?8 I
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have# n) Q! T3 O6 j0 T
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission. 5 ^( t, I# e0 u+ P+ v
% Z: s& M9 ~# KIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the7 x2 ~4 N1 I) M7 j4 G: |1 V
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
0 \8 s- h, H' Y4 N% S& Uthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
: \8 K6 U4 d* F$ L: ~. k- uthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
$ Y& b! m3 }( I K4 R- Kpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
X) m% l: v- {the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer./ O4 p- f, v$ q

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups; A9 Y# L! r3 n$ m5 A
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government# \1 R, \4 ]3 G2 E' @5 p1 M1 I
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of1 a: v: j3 [" [$ s4 E
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
5 f7 c# v! \& s( q$ L7 r6 pwork in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
: s" Q' T' y) G/ ^: g ?managing projects and budgets.
" l1 G$ i# a) m8 S/ v! J; M% b3 ?( K( G5 v
+ V5 n2 q& N% bPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
