The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
" @& P/ k3 F* c$ @' Kvolunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
/ {; ?  b5 E, _7 Q5 U- oages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
7 _$ S0 ]3 L) H) Q/ y5 `. corganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

  B. P4 ]9 G6 j# R  `$ UPosition Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
  B! T. ~- E/ Zand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
/ y/ C' s( A9 n( W, ?& R, ]non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
, Q2 u" ]. ]# B# iworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
policies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
" u0 W+ e0 b; r% S7 `0 Qvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
8 L' i4 W- z. K, k/ kfor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
' w  o0 d4 n; t+ @7 Y" cto implement the organizational policies.

, }  D( s5 ^" D9 e# p$ Y+ EPLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
  X' o' g& a' p6 was per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
  D% L) F3 W0 x% R# wservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

) Z: j9 A# ~8 X& e1 {9 a: iIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
1 [) O$ t6 c4 O1 }( w7 Ldevelopment of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
- u8 |, B! z7 Q7 r, Mthe funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
4 w# B9 k' a* d' Z/ \, b8 tpayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
3 L6 M# J5 r1 Z' Ithe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
5 s- p  `' j0 E, ]% Oincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
; y4 t3 {+ b# e1 O0 ^managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
