The Organization: Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! is a registered nonprofit
0 Y  K; i3 x0 ~& n2 W7 U+ }$ h$ vsociety led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
' T. S, E/ j! N/ X) z/ s0 }ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
4 V* N% H! a5 b: i# W. uorganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
- Z3 `& @; c6 i& wsustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
+ R" a: d0 e/ q4 Tand leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
non-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
( E9 K( N: w1 C3 p* z1 qworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
& W. v( g1 o; opolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's

Primary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
! t" X; h- k, gvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
arrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
9 E7 V* t8 x7 Z% R: g; R8 {" Fmedia/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
, ]0 t8 i! n  Y2 ?for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.

PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
7 H6 o' H' I3 h. X! c7 {$ Vservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
  F3 O3 [/ `3 K6 t5 bthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
- U- e0 @' }: B# m/ upayable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
8 m/ t. v9 b( I% n* d$ Kthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
* K$ R  }4 m$ R; qincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

/ ^! u- e8 ]; sPLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
$ T  r$ U: U  d( Rproposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
