PART-TIME ASSISTANT
The Research Data Centres (RDC) Program is part of an initiative from Statistics Canada, the

Position: Part-time Assistant
Classification: Statistics Canada CR-04, Term, Part-time
Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
Employment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.
Language requirement: English essential
Citizenship: Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada
Security clearance: Enhanced Reliability Check

( c; ?+ n5 a6 d& F' U( K5 fStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
2 s& `! {6 D" \You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
+ h* v, {4 E7 q, e/ `' p; clab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
8 i, v" r4 J6 c% A- ~& z& Vcentre.
These responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
- Z# ~: U3 [, v0 t-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
; n# [/ {( ?( q/ Gfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
1 |7 o! b0 A9 [8 F$ h# d-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
% V. K. H9 V# T& _$ FEducation:
- P8 b2 k( f( v, x! X3 y5 b-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
9 X) S& F  ?1 T; @6 Feducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
& S! L8 S# }) l" w. e! a/ ~-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
9 w! n0 X0 k8 R* f6 i-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.
9 |! Y" ^. f( U8 o, `
Assets:
+ v1 a. N; R$ C. x2 w-Experience in using MS Access.
$ k8 e* H8 ?, J9 w( _: J$ i-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
; v8 p* X; \  u4 K  \' \( Q3 |-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA

-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
