0 e" W6 g: Q- I/ g3 h' {Fred Lindsay told Sun Media yesterday plans are in the works to increase the number of RCMP officers and special constables patrolling Alberta roads this year.

% O( {' h  H1 Y, sThough any moves have to be approved in the province's budget, Lindsay said he's looking at boosting the ranks of the Mounties patrolling rural Alberta, to help curb a flood of urban organized crime groups, who are moving their operations to rural areas where there is less of a police presence.

Chop shops, where stolen cars are stripped for parts, and marijuana grow-ops have all started to sprout up throughout rural Alberta, said Lindsay.
