Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

# T, R2 R3 l' E2 o2 @The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
