Newcomers are being offered some help when shopping for a home in Edmonton’s tight housing market. 3 `) ]- q J3 v* z2 ~; K
Immigrant women and their families can now access a “household toolkit” crafted by a local service group for new immigrant families, through real estate agents.

In the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items. # v# ^6 ]9 @, w. k7 G7 l" L- W
( K! r6 _- A6 _8 S' K“The tools are a symbol of hope for people trying to build new lives in Edmonton,” said Madeline Sarafinchan, president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board. # t1 x$ x: U2 Q5 ^2 t5 ~. X

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women. 6 v% z# j2 F, _: U% ^
