! `" R8 a1 h/ D$ h7 B" _. C8 g
3 z8 O. L- W( Y, S        1. I couldn't care less.   ^& [6 n; w7 ]( f; `
  j; c: G) w+ c3 c
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: 9 M) i$ V# t! _! c; \* |$ p
( y9 [8 g4 B1 s) |' _
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
0 \  ~$ A. @7 a; `4 ?+ _- n% N
( Q2 g) s8 ^9 O) Q; e 你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 3 V3 Y/ S5 o+ T- u6 \7 t

0 e- q* }  o, ?, l& \* A How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
* X5 N+ ~$ R# v0 |: W
* {8 A' H$ }9 s: J. ~  B  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
. D/ |5 c( S& i; Z9 c; O! C
  Q' Y& e$ a3 G
# _3 d( ]* @- v6 Y8 x* K I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
3 o- }9 {/ e* y$ x: ^# v, i  a
4 a/ d  t4 z0 V9 E: Y5 `. t Yes, you do(care).
& k8 M5 d5 z/ ~$ v/ r& o/ O: h( c- k8 J& N# [% y' S
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
/ x- M& V* C# u4 y4 h8 O5 @7 H: n; r
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
( ]; p- ]+ S- y( @3 V
) L1 ?, }1 d9 ~: R- G I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
8 q9 u3 N; s  U% V2 ^2 M- |7 ?* I4 _4 E) ?: c3 x, q
I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
) G6 t( R% V( b0 J! M$ v2 D) c: q
5 R4 g7 A% S4 B  s  G4 R 但是老外为了自尊,不愿强调自己的错误,所以很少人说: 4 L4 c% w" a, Z5 k' P' e
/ @8 ^% i! t) @3 U
  I couldn't be more wrong.
8 o( s- c/ \) ]' y! g5 w
. o' A2 a# P6 M3 N% B
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) ; }/ q, W) Q6 z6 L

. Z% Q  X7 k8 S I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
9 U- g- Z: |+ P$ K, @! w% B) i+ E" q3 r* i5 k9 M
  2. No bones about it.
, T' Q* R2 z4 ]0 {$ N4 g9 W
; x  ?9 S, Z! O2 e7 O6 }5 R 意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
  S$ g2 u& c% I
+ d- m" _1 X/ h6 ? His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮)
& Q( D$ D& [' B, I) F3 f1 {
1 q9 I6 T" N" C' M3 x: r  s) e Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) 8 ~& Z3 @! L7 F6 f/ S  \2 Z9 P
; N. G/ n% j* c+ ?/ {, Q
  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) + t; a8 u- |* N9 S
% d$ ]) H4 J. D* B5 U
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) / C3 F, v# M% |" B; o$ U; A
, A, s2 S! U8 p9 P4 H  f6 S
  3. take it on me!
0 R$ {, ]+ k2 N* d1 o/ e* [; O! R4 k2 P9 L- M& a9 g
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如: + {, Y: b$ s: {( Q+ @% d- w+ x( d. o

+ S( u$ E8 u: c8 C: Y Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy) ! U3 z' v( s; f- E* w# o

8 X0 h  A* p9 s  z) I The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me."
2 h; k! G. z7 A3 [4 [, o# V) C/ p$ k; K" e) x: U
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) . x4 A" X( O& |5 v0 ~
( [, b2 K. r4 X* Q, A; F5 i
9 p" \  N* O; X: ]7 G
) H, N% A: l$ [9 w' X0 G3 I" C
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
2 @% S; u9 Z0 K0 v9 B9 W* B# M. A# k9 c* d# M; n9 s
  4. I am from Missouri.
- D1 f  }+ Q4 O* T$ }( p$ Z# k
& {* O8 |, h' D7 O) W 这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 3 y2 x$ e0 z  A" X9 M+ [! I
2 i* i, t0 V: Q# w/ \& O& j+ l+ G
|* o' c/ j: j8 u2 `. A; U
( v0 N$ V" K  ^
  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. . e: ?  q8 s. K2 f/ E: k
, I4 T! h# l  }- [/ R
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) ' _: r; V9 n& ~, K' N* d
% ~% ]! {) k! o. u6 R( M0 j
We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
  E5 V' B+ U) ]  B# V1 c  G& w# u
7 b5 Z5 j( p6 g) V9 |" n As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith先生是位倔强的人,他一定是来自密苏里州。)
