kind of agnosticism what Nature really wants to teach its readers? By that
2 x# F! K. G6 qstandard, I estimate that at least half of the peer-reviewed scientific* g# z2 m" ?7 H3 w
papers in Nature should be retracted. How can one convince the editors and6 u/ T8 Q+ A: |- Q8 Q& f
reviewers that their proposed theory works for every possible case? One
5 h4 A9 V5 B# @$ q0 s- Kcannot. One chooses to apply the theory to typical examples and to
. \7 d4 O F$ h, Y3 Mdemonstrate that in (hopefully) all scenarios considered, the theory works8 q& y( K. o' I i1 {" [$ Z

, anyone who has taken quantum 101 will tell you that everything is

athlete’s system could tunnel out right at the moment of the test. A slight

Let’s be practical and reasonable, and accept that the World Anti-Doping4 F) Z4 O6 V% i& U
agency (WADA) is competent at its job. Ye’s urine sample will be stored for
3 c# H9 j/ H0 Ueight years after the contest for future testing as technology advances.

competition drug test is already in effect, which Callaway failed to mention

Olympics. Furthermore, 107 athletes have been banned from this Olympics for- q. s0 h0 q, q
doping. That may be the reason that “everyone will pass at the Olympic' F8 p" d5 ]( w% f" d: P* K
games. Hardly anyone fails in competition testing” — those who did dope1 c0 b) a- F } c+ r" ~) |% q/ w
have already been caught and sanctioned. Callaway is free to suggest that a
' k( ^7 S* k- w hplayer could have doped beforehand and fooled the test at the game, but this
5 H7 z- ~( t5 k4 a& s! S( ^/ J/ s9 ?possibility is certainly ruled out for Ye. G$ E% N( p& \- Z

intentionally or not) cherry-pick data that, in my view, are far too
# M% R6 f* u7 Z3 Bsuggestive to be fair and unbiased. If you want to cover a story of a
- ~5 W$ a1 q2 q O1 ?0 ^suspected doping from a scientific point of view, be impartial and provide
( e5 C! h e1 R- X- M+ y: v/ R$ kall the facts for the reader to judge. You are entitled to your- q. r6 F- W: b/ ?+ Y7 u
interpretation of the facts, and the expression thereof in your piece,

. E% w' T' |- @' Fargument is hardly good science or journalism. Such an article in a journal1 U! h' z- e. u7 O( m' H( V5 _5 y
