CALGARY — A teen girl was taken to Foothills Hospital in potentially life-threatening condition Monday morning after a head-on collision that involved a "complicated extrication" near Chestermere.

9 F( X7 F0 w$ G" z4 b+ J; zAt around 8:30 a.m., RCMP, Chestermere fire crews and Calgary EMS personnel were called to Highway 791 just east of Calgary after a pick-up truck and smaller car crashed head-on, said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux.( g# S& ~7 d( @4 w& D

The female driver in her mid-teens, who was the lone occupant of the small car, sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries and needed to be extricated from the vehicle by fire crews.9 N4 w8 c+ _4 `0 f& Y m

STARS Air Ambulance was called to take the girl to the Foothills Hospital.1 n( ~9 j( s1 P D7 O
