T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
% `- _" Z9 p/ H) ]5 c& x8 ~Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering 1 K, c) h3 E, X* C' c; c
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on 3 m% }9 W7 H o- |: p( \
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development, 8 |, M7 m. R7 Z8 P
and Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved., ^- b( x$ A9 G# D- F; n

What will take place in the sessions?9 Q+ N3 Q1 O9 W$ O
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.

2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

( E) j& @: f1 uIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

* i( D& ], k: E( C+ J" kVolunteer’s Duties:6 K' d; I" B5 {( f1 ~" _! `

 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies 5 K, L) ~3 V/ H2 c
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
5 H, N) b0 Z5 b6 n Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities. H3 b1 K* G( w+ E, r4 @
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions" r) X {8 Q- o' U: d& ?
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic/ s) q1 h9 w8 N7 E8 w
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips

Volunteer Commitment:, p% F; P4 P0 [( E" P, P1 K, G
# J2 t7 b$ C( N% d( K2 G. T On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)" `4 I; D+ |1 G/ h M
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator
