Over last decade, I have used many window upgrade companies. Here are some of my suggestions:
+ |, x& r/ L& G* Q6 z6 z- You really need triple-pane windows ,not only for the sound proof, but for the Edmonton winter. The price is not much differnt from double-pane but the performance almost doubled;
% m( C5 p$ M! A0 Q( n: J- I have tried many brands of windows, Hometech, Economic Windows, All-Weather windows, Jeldwen (by Home Depot). The best would be Hometech. All-weather is also good but the price is too high lately. I just had one big bay-window by Economic Windows in this April. Looks great but don't know how good for the real winter.
6 J+ [. B+ b& X3 q7 R' O# S. M+ K' P- Stay away from craps like Durabuilt or Sunrise Windows. Cheap stuff.
