Position: Outreach Worker

Job Description
- promote the Centre’s ISP to community organizations, businesses, educational institutions, etc. by in-person presentations, phone or sending relevant information
- promote ISP in various media: newspaper, radio, newsletter, etc.
-  develop or update brochures, pamphlets, information packages, etc. for ISP
, F- E9 l& d" g* J( x- provide support to ISP staff
0 \. t! o! M, _0 o0 Y- recruit new members to the Newcomers Club and maintain existing members
- promote, organize and coordinate the Newcomers Club’s activities
- outreach in different areas of the city where new immigrants are concentrated
4 D6 C) P% }2 X( k3 h- |- attend meetings relevant to ISP and outreach work to advocate issues and concerns of new immigrants
9 c4 Z8 E( W: }4 R- U- adapt to a flexible working schedule to accommodate the program’s goals
- fulfill the goals and objectives of ISP as contracted by funder
- report writing, data collection, conduct evaluations, budget management, etc.
3 H; W/ |4 H6 i7 H! m& V/ D8 f/ d! \- recruit and coordinate volunteers to assist with outreach activities
- assist with front counter services as needed and assigned

) E. _: R& u% P/ cQualifications
- degree/diploma in social work/human services and eligibility to be registered to area of discipline; relevant experience with community services/projects/immigrants will be considered
- knowledge of immigrant issues and concerns, community resources and services available
- experience in working with community groups and community liaison workers
; d1 a0 H4 r: R/ k- good computer skills using Microsoft and Chinese software
* h, l1 i0 t* L$ b0 M% B- speak & write Chinese (fluent in Mandarin preferred)
& \* h1 [" W1 [+ }/ M2 U- good interpersonal and people skills
- good organizational and coordination skills

- must undergo security and child welfare check at own expense

Salary
- $12/hr for 17.5hours/week, April 18 to March 31, 2007
