+ E3 W& D, L2 v9 O' rPosition Profile Heavy Duty Mechanics inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations.

* h$ t2 {1 K+ a# n% E5 z/ f" xThey are also responsible for other important tasks, including:

Diagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
Operating machinery in a safe and effective manner
Providing daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts
Assembling and starting engines
; ]% ^- Q  `  s6 t* v1 ]9 p# J" \- WDiagnosing locomotive component malfunctions
7 }  R; ~1 L7 R0 E5 F* RPreparing inspection, work and maintenance reports
Performing other functions as assigned

Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.

This is not a Red Seal apprenticeship.
